It includes involvement in worker consultation and providing support to promote a healthy and safe workplace. The unit applies to individuals who assist in identifying workplace hazards, assessing risks, and controlling WHS risks as part of their WHS responsibilities, in addition to their primary job duties. This ensures they contribute to maintaining a safe work environment while fulfilling their broader role within the organisation.

This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to conduct pool water tests and visual inspections, record test data and results, and report any irregularities for corrective action. It applies to public aquatic facilities operated by commercial, not-for-profit, community, and government organisations. While primarily focused on aquatic technical operators, it can also apply to individuals at various responsibility levels, all guided by manufacturer instructions and organisational testing procedures. The skills must be applied in compliance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice to ensure proper water quality and facility safet

This Aquatic Technical Operator course blends prior e-learning modules with a one day face to face workshop at an aquatic venue. This face to face work includes plant room inspection/checklists, water testing, and post submissions with data collection, evidence of pool plant and equipment maintenance.

These units of competency from the BSB Business Services Training Package and SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package provide a set of skills to monitor and maintain aquatic facility equipment and pool water quality, and coordinate the maintenance of aquatic plant and equipment.
