Our engaging and practical course is designed to help explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training.

With a focus on job-seeking skills, using public transport, and developing workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, punctuality, and time awareness, we equip our students with all the tools they need to succeed in the workforce. Our work education program also offers participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-life workplaces. VU23028: Develop and apply an individual vocational plan with support
VU23029: Develop personal management skills for work
VU23030: Participate in vocational activities
VU23031: Participate in practical placement with support
MSMWHS100: Follow WHS procedures: This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to recognise common workplace hazards and follow work health and safety (WHS) instructions and procedures. It includes identifying hazards known through training or procedures and understanding their underlying causes. The unit applies to on-site workers responsible for adhering to WHS instructions and procedures relevant to their tasks. These individuals are aware of the importance of safeguarding their own health and safety, as well as that of others. They are capable of responding to incidents and emergencies within their scope of responsibility, following direction from their supervisor.

The Certificate I in Work Education supports post compulsory school age learners with permanent cognitive and / or intellectual disabilities to explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training. It supports learners to improve their employability and work readiness.
In exceptional circumstances compulsory school age learners with evidence of permanent cognitive and / or intellectual disability may be enrolled in the qualification.

22566VIC Certificate I in Work Education supersedes and is equivalent to the 22302VIC Certificate I in Work Education.

Students commit 4 days a week to their learning with 3 onsite days a week delivered at a Belgravia venue where students learn the theory and skills for the units in the program.

1 day a week student will be supported to find and participate in work placement, which may be at a Belgravia venue or could also include:

  • community / volunteer organisations,
  • local businesses,
  • opportunities through students’ own networks.

Student Resources

  • Students will require their own personal digital device with internet connectivity, such as a mobile phone, or tablet.
  • All students need to be able to read, speak and write basic English. We recommend at least a year 10 Specialist School equivalent is required for this program.
  • A Working with Children Check and National Police Check prior to starting.
