Overview

The Test and Manage Pool Water Quality course is designed for people who play a hands-on role in keeping pools safe and clean. Whether you are working in plant rooms, supporting day-to-day aquatic operations, or looking to build your technical capability, this course gives you the practical skills and knowledge to confidently manage pool water quality.

Combining two nationally recognised units of competency from the Aquatic Technical Operator skillset, this course goes beyond basic testing. You will explore how water quality systems really work in a live aquatic environment, learning how to interpret results, respond to irregularities and take action when things are not quite right.

Through practical, industry-aligned training, you will gain a clear understanding of testing processes, monitoring requirements and the safe use of equipment and chemicals, while working within regulatory and workplace guidelines.

On successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment, providing credit towards the Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation and the Aquatic Technical Operator qualification.

You will learn how to:

  • Conduct routine pool water testing and visual inspections.
  • Interpret and evaluate water quality test results.
  • Identify irregular or non-compliant test outcomes.
  • Apply appropriate manual and chemical remedial actions.
  • Record test data and inspection results accurately.
  • Report issues promptly for corrective action.
  • Operate in accordance with workplace procedures and regulatory requirements.

On completion of this course, you will be confident in testing and managing pool water quality to support safe and compliant aquatic facilities. These skills are essential for anyone working in aquatic operations and technical roles.
