Mental Health First Aid (Refresher)

Evaluations consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illness, their treatments and appropriate First Aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help provided.

This workshop is tailored for individuals who have previously completed the Mental Health First Aid Australia workshop and seek to update their knowledge and practical skills in recognising and addressing mental health issues or crises in other adults. Mental Health crises covered in this course include suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe effects from alcohol and other drug use and aggressive behaviour. Mental health problems covered in this course include depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance use problems.
