Overview
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of a swimming pool lifeguard, supervise the safety of participants in aquatic recreation facilities and manage water-based rescues and emergencies.
On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a skill set statement of attainment. Attainment of these units provides credit towards SIS30122 Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation.
It is a requirement of being a swimming pool lifeguard that they complete a Pool Lifeguard certification to upgrade their skills and knowledge annually to ensure they are appropriately trained to respond to water-based rescues and emergencies.

Pool Lifeguard Course
Skill Set Details: Training.Gov.Au
HLTAID011: Provide First Aid
SISCAQU019: Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations
SISCAQU020: Perform water rescues
SISCAQU021: Perform Complex water rescues
SISCAQU022: Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment
We enrol you into an online program where you complete a theory component of the course, learning the important points of pool lifeguarding. Allow 4-5 hours to complete this part of your training. Once completed, you attend an onsite training course at a Belgravia venue near you, spending a couple of hours refreshing your knowledge before you are assessed in the requirements of the unit of competency. Allow 2, 8 hr days for the practical training and assessment.
Student Resources
Students need to be able to demonstrate fitness, strength, efficiency and speed to be able to perform water rescues and swim the required distances for assessment.
You will also need to submit a current copy of unit HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
