Overview

Conflict is a part of any workplace, but knowing how to handle it effectively is essential to maintaining a positive, productive environment. It involves using effective communication and conflict-resolution techniques to manage conflict and develop solutions.

This nationally recognised short course equips you with the performance outcomes, skills, and knowledge to identify, manage, resolve, and evaluate conflict professionally and tactfully. While this unit of study is relevant for anyone working in travel and hospitality, it will particularly benefit more senior personnel who work with a level of independence.

You will learn how to:

  • Identify potential conflict situations and take proactive steps to prevent escalation.
  • Resolve internal and external customer and colleague disputes using proven communication techniques, and according to organisational policies.
  • Evaluate the impact of conflict on business reputation and legal liability.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of conflict solutions and provide input for workplace improvements.
  • Identify and seek assistance for situations where the personal safety of customers or colleagues may be threatened.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the confidence and practical skills to recognise, manage, resolve, and evaluate workplace conflict using communication strategies and resources. These capabilities are essential for professionals in tourism and hospitality, where maintaining positive relationships is vital for success.
